The IFPRI-Egypt Seminar Series is part of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) funded project called “Evaluating Impact and Building Capacity” (EIBC) that is implemented by IFPRI. The seminar supports USAID’s Agribusiness for Rural Development and Increasing Incomes (ARDII) project’s objectives.

Egypt is one of the countries that is closely aligning its national development strategy, the Sustainable Development Strategy Vision 2030, with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). In 2016, UNDP in collaboration with IFPRI organized a seminar on poverty measurements and the SDG achievement.
Key messages from this seminar were a) the importance of regular collect of country-specific data and indicators b) update national strategies and monitoring c) the effective use of big data and data-driven decision making.
On 26 November 2019, UNDP and IFPRI organized a seminar to discuss poverty and food security in Egypt: Current state and the potential of big data. The seminar featured panelists from key stakeholders from Government, research institutes and international organizations.
