The Near East and North Africa (NENA) Region, is characterized with multiple burdens of malnutrition, including under-nutrition (wasting and stunting), over-nutrition (overweight and obesity) and micronutrient deficiencies. The prevalence of obesity in the region, which is rising at a fast pace and significantly exceeds the global average (FAO, IFAD, UNICEF, WFP and WHO, 2017), is particularly concerning.
