Overview
Evaluating Impact and Building Capacity (EIBC) is a three-component project that covers 3 main areas of study; Economy-Wide Modeling, Social Protection, and Digital Agriculture. In the Economy-Wide Modeling component, IFPRI is collaborating with the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development (MoPED) to evaluate the impact of Hayah Karima using Economy Wide Modelling and Computable General Equilibrium (CGE). Under this activity, IFPRI is assessing Hayah Karima investments and its impact on different microeconomic aggregates like sanitation, health, education, and nutrition.
In the Social Protection component, IFPRI is conducting an impact evaluation for Forsa, which is an economic inclusion program by the Ministry of Social Solidarity (MoSS) that targets Takaful beneficiaries through social protection activities like asset transfer and employment assistance.
And lastly in component three, IFPRI aims to explore the digital agriculture landscape through partnerships with Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation (MoALR) and private entrepreneurs. IFPRI has collaborated with Mahsoly, which is Agri-tech startup company that aims to improve the Egyptian agriculture economy by giving smallholder farmers sustainable access to their respective market. The collaboration seeks to build a price monitoring tool that helps farmers obtain accurate market prices for their crops, minimizing information asymmetries in the agricultural crops’ prices.
